Cauliflower Steak

Cauliflower steak is a good change from the usual mashing or ricing. We used SOS Butter masala to marinate them and give it an Indian twist.

Ingredients  

  • 1 large Cauliflower head
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of olive oil
  •  6 tbsp SOS Butter Masala
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 bowl Fresh Coriander
  • 1 tbsp Plain yogurt

Method

  1. Cut the cauliflower into 4 thick slices
  2. Brush each steak generously with the Butter masala sauce on both sides
  3. Heat a grill pan and add the oil
  4. Now lay the cauliflower steaks and let each cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side
  5. Then lower the heat and let it cook. But do leave a little crunch
  6. Remove and keep aside
  7. For the chutney put the chillies, coriander, yogurt, salt in a blender and blitz till smooth. Keep aside
  8. For plating - place the steaks, drizzle the chutney and sprinkle the red chilli powder on top

Tips

If you dont have a grill pan use a normal pan. Or oven roast the steaks.

When you are slicing the cauliflower some florets will fall aside. You can marinate these and pan grill as well or rice them and freeze for later.
