BASBOUSA CAKE

INGREDIENTS (CAKE):

  1. 200g semolina
  2. 200g sugar
  3. 1 tsp baking powder
  4. 125g butter
  5. 125 ml milk
  6. 250 ml yogurt
  7. 1 tbsp SOS Lust
  8. 1 tsp vanilla essence
  9. 50 ml simple syrup

INGREDIENTS (CREAM CHEESE FROSTING):

  1. 50g unsalted butter
  2. 100g cream cheese
  3. 20g powdered sugar

INGREDIENTS (TOPPING):

  1. 3 tbsp SOS Lust
  2. 15g almond flakes

METHOD:

  1. Mix semolina, sugar & baking powder in a bowl
  2. Now add in the wet ingredients - yogurt, milk, melted butter, vanilla essence & SOS Lust until well-combined & let sit for 5mins
  3. Butter a springform cake tin & pour the cake mixture in it
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 45 min or until the cake is done
  5. Once the cake is out of the oven, pour the simple syrup on it
  6. Let the cake cool
  7. Whip up the frosting ingredients until soft & creamy
  8. Spread a layer of the frosting on the cooled cake & then a layer of the SOS Lust
  9. Garnish with toasted almond flakes
