BASBOUSA CAKE

SERVING: 10                       PREP TIME: 10min                       COOK TIME: 45min

INGREDIENTS (CAKE):

  • 200g semolina
  • 200g sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 125g butter
  • 125 ml milk
  • 250 ml yogurt
  • 1 tbsp SOS Lust
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 50 ml simple syrup

    INGREDIENTS (CREAM CHEESE FROSTING):

    • 50g unsalted butter
    • 100g cream cheese
    • 20g powdered sugar

      INGREDIENTS (TOPPING):

      • 3 tbsp SOS Lust
      • 15g almond flakes

        METHOD:

        • Mix semolina, sugar & baking powder in a bowl
        • Now add in the wet ingredients - yogurt, milk, melted butter, vanilla essence & SOS Lust until well-combined & let sit for 5mins
        • Butter a springform cake tin & pour the cake mixture in it
        • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 45 min or until the cake is done
        • Once the cake is out of the oven, pour the simple syrup on it
        • Let the cake cool
        • Whip up the frosting ingredients until soft & creamy
        • Spread a layer of the frosting on the cooled cake & then a layer of the SOS Lust
        • Garnish with toasted almond flakes.
